A compact guided wave ultrasonic inspection system designed for rapid detection of hidden corrosion in pipes and light poles—especially in hard-to-access areas such as under supports. Utilizing dry-point-contact (DPC) transducers, the system requires no couplant and enables efficient field deployment. The scanner performs a full 360° circumferential scan, capturing high-resolution B-scan images that clearly indicate corrosion locations and severity. Its robust, portable design and intuitive data visualization make it ideal for on-site inspections, delivering reliable results with minimal setup time.

The inspection task involves the detection of hidden corrosion in metallic structures such as pipelines and light poles, particularly in hard-to-access areas, for example beneath pipe supports. Using guided ultrasonic waves and Dry-Point-Contact (DPC) transducers, the entire circumference of the structure is scanned over 360°. During the inspection, the system acquires multi-channel ultrasonic data at various measurement positions and generates B-scan images using the Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique (SAFT). This enables users to determine the location and severity of corrosion without having to dismantle the structure or interrupt operation.
